Leeds v Arsenal (1:6)

The Arsenal steam roller moves on....with or without KJ Smith.
who after brightening up the proceedings at Tadcaster was provoked into retaliating & got a red along with Alex Culvin. Not before scoring a couple though.
Can't help thinking this cynical behaviour from opponents is the only way to level up the playing field though. It smacks of a real lack of ability at times. Alex Culvin is a good player but when faced with a talent like Arsenal's number 8 it must be tempting to stop them at all costs.

That said, both deserved a red card. Shame as the game went very flat after that incident and the rain aswell. Arsenal worryingly easy winners.

Can Kelly Smith and others stand this lack of competition in this country or will they jump ship for the US?

Arsenal v Everton - community shield (1:0)

Everton and Arsenal squared up at Macclesfield and it was a top 45mins of footie in the first half. Dowie and Potter had good games. I thought the Everton keeper was at fault for the Arsenal goal which was chipped in by the excellent Kelly Smith in the second half - and that after her air kick against Germany...hmm
