Sunderland v Lincoln C (2:1)

Lincoln were dependant on other results going very much against form in order to gain promotion and it wasn't to be. Forest breezed past Sheff Wed 5:1. In effect nothing much Lincoln were going to do about that - Sunderland are an efficient passing outfit. In the end the two main goalscorer's crashed out of the game - Snelson with a hamstring and Aisthorpe with a cracked rib. Lincoln shoved everything up front but inevitably were caught short at the back. The final score was 2:1 but even a reversal of that score wouldn't have helped.

Lincoln v Aston Villa (4:0)

They have a tendancy to breeze past most opponents (apart from Arsenal obviously) just recently.
